SWUST organized a financial services seminar on April 26, jointly hosted by its Planning and Finance Office and the International Student Education Office, in partnership with the Mianyang Branch of the People’s Bank of China and the Mianyang Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. The event aimed to empower international students with comprehensive financial knowledge, enhancing their ease of living in China and fostering a deeper understanding of the financial services system.
The seminar was conducted in both Chinese and English to ensure a profound understanding among all international students. Bank representatives elaborated on various payment services, including payment scenarios, foreign card binding, digital wallet exchange, and digital currency transactions. They also gave a comprehensive breakdown of foreign exchange policies, thereby empowering students with practical financial knowledge and significantly facilitating their lives in China.
The seminar resonated positively with active participation and appreciative feedback from the international students. Su Xiaobu (Chinese name), a student from Laos, enthusiastically remarked, “The university’s arrangement is fantastic! This event has illustrated the financial aspects we may encounter during our studies and daily lives in China, as well as strategies to mitigate potential risks. Previously, I relied heavily on mobile payments or cash for tuition, shopping, and transportation. Now, I have a deeper understanding of Chinese financial services system.”
As one of the special activities under the Financial Office’s “Serving Teachers and Students” initiative, this financial services seminar not only improved international students’ awareness of China’s financial system, but also showcased the efficient, convenient, and diverse payment methods of the country, reinforcing the financial support for the international community residing in China.
